Loveland hosts one of Greater Cincinnati's highest-ranked football teams Friday night when Anderson (8-1, 8-0 ECC) brings a three-peat conference championship to town for the regular-season finale.
Kickoff is 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23.
Anderson arrives riding an eight-game winning streak and a fresh college commitment from senior running back Jordan Davis. WCPO high school sports reporter Mike Dyer reported on X on Tuesday, Oct. 20, that Davis verbally committed to Eastern Illinois University.
Davis's numbers explain the interest. He has 504 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns this season, plus 39 receptions for 588 receiving yards and three more scores, according to Dyer.
Anderson locked up at least a share of the Eastern Cincinnati Conference title with a 47-21 win over Winton Woods on Oct. 16. The program became the first ECC football team to three-peat as conference champions, WCPO reported.
Quarterback Owen Scalf threw for 458 yards and six touchdowns in that Winton Woods game, according to USA TODAY Sports. Senior receiver Tysin Weaver hauled in 12 catches for 222 yards and a career-high four touchdowns. Weaver's 38 career touchdown receptions at Anderson are tied for 22nd most in Ohio history, according to WLWT's Blitz 5 Top 25.
Anderson sits at No. 3 in the WLWT Blitz 5 Top 25 and No. 11 in the USA TODAY Sports Super 15 Midwest region rankings. Anderson has unofficially clinched a top-four spot in OHSAA Division II, Region 8, which would give the team a first-round bye and home-field advantage when the playoffs begin Oct. 30, according to WCPO.
The Tigers (2-7, 2-6 ECC) enter the finale after a 40-21 loss to West Clermont on Oct. 16. A pick-six helped West Clermont keep Loveland at bay, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
Both teams play in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference and are classified in OHSAA Division II.
The OHSAA football playoffs open Friday, Oct. 30.
