Historic Downtown Loveland will turn into a Halloween playground on Friday, Oct. 30, with seven hours of activities for kids, pets and adults spread across more than two dozen businesses.
Haunted Loveland runs 4–11 p.m. and is coordinated by downtown businesses, according to Loveland Daily News. The evening includes trick-or-treating, a pet costume parade, a pub and restaurant crawl, karaoke, live music and the first-ever haunted house inside Loveland City Hall.
Trick-or-treating: 4–7 p.m.
Kids in costume can collect candy at more than 25 participating shops and restaurants, according to the event page hosted by Cappy's Taproom. Stops include Bike Trail Books, Graeters, Plaid Room Records, Fleet Feet, Playa Bowl and The Works Pizza Co., among others.
Pet costume parade: 6 p.m.
The parade starts at the gazebo at Nisbet Park. Costumed pets and their owners will walk the trail to Pet Wants, where judges will pick winners and hand out prizes.
Spirits of Loveland crawl: 4–11 p.m.
A dozen bars and restaurants are taking part in a collectible-card crawl built around four Loveland spirits: The Frogman, The Trestle Troll, The Lady of the Little Miami and The Night Rider. Participants visit locations such as Bishop's Quarter, Cappy's, E+O, Hops and Berry, Paxton's, Ramsey's Trailside and Rosé Boutique and Wine Bar to collect Spirit cards. Completed sets must be turned in at Hops & Berry by 9:30 p.m. for a chance to win a Downtown Loveland gift basket. A costume contest follows.
Haunted Hall at City Hall: 7–11 p.m.
Loveland City Hall at 120 W. Loveland Ave. will be transformed into a haunted house for the first time, according to Lovin' Life Loveland. The City of Loveland is presenting the event with Tigers Inc., a student-run nonprofit at Loveland High School. All proceeds go to Tigers Inc. to fund future student-led community projects.
"City Hall has seen its share of long nights, but nothing quite like this," Mayor Kathy Bailey said, according to Lovin' Life Loveland. "For one night, we're handing the building over to the students of Tigers Inc. and letting them create an experience that may have you checking under the bed … before you go to sleep."
Tickets are $10 presale or $12 at the door. The event includes strobe lighting, fog machines and other special effects. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult.
Outside the haunted house, a DJ and food from Folks-N-Motion will keep the line entertained.
