Pumpkin painting and live birds of prey headline Milford's free fall family day Saturday, Oct. 3, at Five Points Landing Park.
The free event runs from noon to 3 p.m. at the park, 527 Lila Ave., the city announced on Facebook, as first reported by the Clermont Guardian. Activities include pumpkin painting, games and an educational raptor program.
RAPTOR Inc., a Milford-based nonprofit whose name stands for Regional Association for the Protection and Treatment Of Raptors, will bring the bird program. The organization, founded in 1978 and headquartered at 961 Barg Salt Run Road, holds state and federal permits to treat more than 300 injured hawks, owls and other raptors each year. It cares for 10 permanent resident birds representing species native to Ohio.
The group delivers more than 350 educational presentations annually at schools, libraries and community events, reaching more than 19,000 people each year, according to the organization's LinkedIn page. Executive Director Steve Wesselkamper said in a November 2025 LinkedIn post about a separate classroom program that the organization's volunteer educators "love sparking curiosity in young minds."
The city has not released a full schedule of activities beyond the pumpkin painting, games and raptor visit.
Five Points Landing Park sits on the site of the former Milford Main Middle School at Main Street and Lila Avenue. The city redeveloped the property into a gathering space with an open-air entertainment area, a splash fountain, a dog park and walking paths. The park also has restrooms, concession facilities and a large parking lot, according to the city's website. The Milford Farmers Market wrapped its 2026 season at the park on Sept. 26.
Saturday's fall family day marks one of the first community events at Five Points Landing after the market season ended.
