Two sections of Garfield Avenue in Milford are closed Aug. 12, after fallen trees landed on electrical wires during Tuesday's severe storms.

The city announced the closures in a Facebook post, saying crews are fully deployed clearing damage across the area. The closed segments run from High Street to the Mill Street intersection and, separately, from Apple Street to Choctaw Trail. Both are blocked by trees resting on power lines.

No reopening timeline has been announced. The city said it would update residents on road closures and reopenings as work continues.

Brush pickup through Thursday

Milford is running brush pickup all day Wednesday and into Aug. 13, according to the Clermont Guardian. After Thursday, the city said it would reevaluate the collection schedule based on remaining debris.

Residents can download the Milford OTG app for real-time updates on road closures and brush pickup progress. The city identified the app as its primary communication tool for storm-related changes.

Widespread damage across Clermont County

Tuesday's storms knocked out power to roughly 40,000 Duke Energy customers across Clermont County. Clermont County Engineer Jeremy Evans' office closed nine roads countywide because of storm damage, though the specific roads were not identified publicly. Additional closures were reported in Jackson Township and Batavia Township.

McMann Road near Loveland was also closed Tuesday due to low-hanging wires. The Milford Community Fire Department warned residents to stay away from downed lines throughout the area.

The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down in Clermont County during a round of storms in late July, and Tuesday's system brought another wave of tree damage and power failures to the same communities still recovering.
