Drivers who use Business 28 to reach shops and homes near Milford will need to find another way starting Aug. 17, when the road closes for two weeks of sewer and water utility work.

The Clermont County Engineer's Office announced Friday, Aug. 7, that a contractor will shut Business 28 to through traffic between Elm Street and Eastern Avenue in Miami Township while completing utility connections for the property at 995 Business 28. The closure runs weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Aug. 28.

The road reopens evenings and weekends.

Business 28 parallels State Route 28 and serves as a commercial corridor connecting retail and residential areas near downtown Milford. The daytime shutdown will force drivers onto a posted detour spanning roughly 4.89 miles, as reported by the Clermont Guardian.

County Engineer Jeremy Evans' office issued the right-of-way permit for the utility work. The office did not identify the property owner or the planned use at 995 Business 28.

The Milford Exempted Village School District has been notified of the closure, according to the engineer's office. The district partners with Petermann Transportation for bus routing, and school typically resumes in mid-to-late August. The Miami Township Police Department also shared the closure notice on its Facebook page Aug. 7, urging residents to watch for daytime construction-related road closures on Business 28 later in the month.

The closure begins Aug. 17, giving businesses and commuters about a week and a half from the Aug. 7 announcement to adjust routes. Drivers should follow posted detour signs once work begins. The project is scheduled to wrap up Aug. 28.
