Student-athletes who still need clearance for fall sports can get a free physical Aug. 8 or Aug. 9, at Hometown Urgent Care's Milford location on State Route 28, according to an announcement from the company published Aug. 5.

The offer comes one week into OHSAA fall preseason practices, which began Aug. 1 for football, soccer, volleyball, cross country and other fall sports statewide. Any athlete who hasn't completed the required pre-participation evaluation is sidelined until the paperwork is done.

The free physicals are open to any student regardless of school, team or sport. That means Loveland Tigers, Milford Eagles and club athletes alike can walk in this weekend.

"Milford has been part of our family for years," Hometown Urgent Care CEO Manoj Kumar said in the Aug. 5 announcement. "We're proud to stand behind every student-athlete, every team and every school."

Under OHSAA Bylaw 3-5-1, every student-athlete needs a physical once every 13 months before being cleared to practice or compete. The evaluation covers medical history, cardiac health, musculoskeletal screening and vision. Both the student and a parent or guardian must sign the form before the exam, and the completed paperwork must be returned to the school.

Registration is required. Families should visit Hometown Urgent Care's Milford page, click "Register Now," confirm free-day availability and select "2026 Free Sports Physical" as the visit type.

The clinic is at 1068 State Route 28, Milford, OH 45150.

What it saves

Hometown Urgent Care normally charges $20 for sports physicals at its 32 Ohio locations. That discounted rate runs through Sept. 7, but this weekend's exams are completely free.

With Loveland football, Milford soccer and other fall programs already holding preseason workouts, families who haven't scheduled a physical have a narrow window before scrimmages and regular-season games begin later this month.
