Loveland residents have until Oct. 30 to drop off a piece of their lives at City Hall, where it will be sealed inside a new time capsule and left unopened until the city's bicentennial in 2076.
The city announced the submission call on its official X account Aug. 6, as part of Loveland's 150th anniversary celebration. Residents and businesses may each contribute one item that represents life in Loveland in 2026.
Suggested items include photos, letters to future generations, community memories and traditions, local recipes, materials from local businesses, or items tied to important events and milestones.
Each submission must fit within 8½-by-11-inch dimensions and, when possible, should be laminated or sealed in a waterproof bag. Drop-offs are accepted at Loveland City Hall, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Once sealed, the capsule is planned for placement at the future Nisbet Park Amphitheater, which is currently under construction. Fifty years is a long wait.
The time capsule is the latest in a string of sesquicentennial events. The city held a Mayor's Gala earlier this summer, and a community-designed sesquicentennial flag was unveiled at the Nov. 25, 2025, City Council meeting. Loveland, which sits across three counties and has roughly 13,000 residents, was also named one of Ohio Magazine's Best Hometowns for 2026–2027. Mayor Kathy Bailey said Aug. 4, when the Best Hometowns honor was announced, that the recognition "reflects the pride our residents, businesses, volunteers, and community partners have in Loveland."

- What: One item per resident or business, no larger than 8½ × 11 inches, laminated or waterproof-sealed if possible
