Milford's high-scoring offense meets the Eastern Cincinnati Conference's most dominant team Friday, Sept. 25, when Anderson brings a 28-game ECC regular-season winning streak to Milford for a Week 6 divisional opener.

The Raptors (4-1 overall, 4-0 ECC) are ranked No. 6 in WLWT's Blitz 5 Top 25 and have outscored ECC opponents by a combined 222-79 through five weeks. Milford (1-4 overall, 1-3 ECC) has lost three straight, including back-to-back fourth-quarter collapses against Loveland and West Clermont.

The game opens a three-game stretch in which the Eagles face the conference's top teams, the Clermont Sun reported in its Week 6 preview.

Wehrum keeps producing

Sophomore quarterback Aiden Wehrum has been the brightest spot on Milford's roster. He leads the ECC with 16 touchdown passes and has thrown for 1,321 yards through five games. Add his rushing production and Wehrum has accounted for 27 total touchdowns, according to the ECC Athletes of the Week announcement posted by Milford Schools athletics.

As we reported Sept. 22, Wehrum scored all six Milford touchdowns in the 43-41 Week 5 loss to West Clermont. He completed 25 of 40 passes for a personal-best 374 yards and three scores while rushing for a career-high 84 yards and three more.

Junior wide receiver Andrew Lau posted career highs of four catches, 90 receiving yards and a touchdown in that game.

Anderson's streak and firepower

The Raptors haven't lost an ECC regular-season game since 2023. Their streak reached 28 after a 49-33 rout of Kings in Week 5. Quarterback Owen Scalf had thrown for 1,105 yards and 12 touchdowns through Week 4, according to The Report Ohio's preview. His updated totals after the Kings game are not yet available.

Linebacker Antwoine Higgins anchors the defense. He recorded 15 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss and a sack against Kings, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer's athlete-of-the-week ballot.

Anderson allows 296 total yards per game. Milford's defense has given up 379 yards per game, the most in the ECC.

What to watch

Grippa's Eagles need to protect the football in the fourth quarter. They blew a 35-22 lead against Loveland in Week 4 and surrendered a final-play touchdown to West Clermont in Week 5. Anderson scores in bunches, putting up 49 against Kings and outscoring its first three ECC opponents 173-46.

Wehrum's arm gives Milford a chance in any game. Whether the Eagles' defense can slow Anderson long enough for that to matter is the central question.

The game is the first of three straight against top ECC opponents for Milford. Anderson's will host Turpin on Oct. 2 after facing the Eagles.
