Beechwood Road closes Sept. 8–18 for drainage work

Beechwood Road near Loveland closes to through traffic for nearly two weeks starting Sept. 8.

The Clermont County Engineer's Office will shut down the road between addresses 4876 and 4908 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 8 through Friday, Sept. 18, so county crews can complete drainage improvements. The stretch sits in Union Township in Clermont County.

Residents who live within the closure zone will still be able to reach their homes. Crews on site will maintain local access throughout the project, according to the county's closure notice.

The closure notice specifies work hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. but does not state whether the road reopens to through traffic outside those hours. Drivers should watch for posted signs.

Detour

The official detour follows Wooster Pike, Round Bottom Road and Main Street (State Route 32), a loop of about 12.4 miles. The county has posted an interactive detour map on its road closures page. Turn-by-turn directions are not included in the written notice, so drivers should follow posted detour signage once the closure begins.

Why the closure

Clermont County Engineer Jeremy Evans signed the closure order Aug. 24, determining that building a temporary bypass road, culvert or bridge is impractical for this project. The order cites Ohio Revised Code Section 5543.17, which grants that authority.

Evans's office notified Union Township, Union Township Fire/EMS, Milford Schools, West Clermont Schools, the Clermont County Sheriff, the State Highway Patrol and the Clermont Transportation Connection ahead of the closure.

The Clermont County Engineer's Office announced the closure on its X account Aug. 25, giving residents about two weeks' advance notice.
