Loveland-area residents can donate blood steps from home when Hoxworth Blood Center brings a community drive to the Loveland Branch Library on Monday, August 3.

The drive takes place at 649 Loveland-Madeira Road. Adults can book an appointment at hoxworth.org/groups/chpl or by calling 513-451-0910.

Hoxworth supplies blood products to more than 30 hospitals and medical centers across Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, and needs 450 donors every day to keep up with demand, according to the center's website. Each whole blood donation can save up to three lives.

The center's website also notes a critical need for O-negative donors, though all blood types are welcome at the August 3 drive.

The event is part of an ongoing partnership between Hoxworth and the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library system, which includes the Loveland branch. Hoxworth, which describes itself as the nation's oldest operating blood bank, operates seven permanent donor centers across the Tri-State but regularly brings mobile drives to neighborhood locations like the library.

Residents who want to donate should schedule an appointment in advance using the link or phone number above.
