Miami Township trustees will take up restriping on Klondyke Road at their August meeting after residents near Milford raised concerns that faded lane markings and speeding trucks have made the narrow stretch unsafe.
Township Administrator Steve Kelly confirmed the road is one of eight slated for restriping in 2026 and is on the agenda for the board's August meeting, WCPO reported Aug. 6. Miami Township Police Chief Robert Hirsch documented four crashes and seven moving violations on Klondyke Road so far this year.
The concerns surfaced publicly at WCPO's "Let's Talk" community event in Milford on July 29, when Klondyke Road resident Dorris McMillan said speed control is needed on the road. Her daughter, Donna McMillan, also raised safety issues at the event.
Separately, resident Mike Ketteler emailed WCPO on July 18 describing large trucks, congestion and lane striping that is barely visible in spots.
"Being able to see where the lanes are, yes absolutely will help," Ketteler told WCPO. "Does it change the width of the road or the giant trucks shoving you off the road? No, but it's a step forward for sure."
Truck ban ruled out
One option is off the table. The Clermont County Engineer's Office told Kelly that no language in the Ohio Revised Code allows the county to ban trucks or through traffic on county or township roads. That rules out a no-through-truck sign as a remedy for Klondyke.
Kelly said township police can post a speed-awareness sign and add patrols in response to resident complaints, but as of Aug. 6 the township had not received any recent formal requests for those measures on the road.

The Miami Township Board of Trustees meets at 7 p.m. at the Miami Township Civic Center, 6101 Meijer Drive, Milford. Trustees Mary Makley Wolff, Kendal A. Tracy and Mark C. Schulte will consider the restriping item. Residents should confirm the specific August meeting date with the township before attending, as the schedule had not been finalized as of Aug. 6.
