Two Loveland and Milford museums will open their doors for free Sept. 19 as part of Clermont County's fourth and final History and Museum Day of 2026.
The Loveland Historical Society & Museum Center and the Promont House Museum in Milford are among roughly a dozen sites countywide participating in the event. Visitors can tour exhibits, pick up a free passport and collect stamps at each stop, the Clermont Guardian reported. The self-guided tour runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The passport program is organized through Discover Clermont, the county's convention and visitors bureau, and supported by an America 250 Ohio grant marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Four Museum Days were scheduled this year: Jan. 3, March 28, July 11 and Sept. 19. Saturday's event is the last.
Visitors can grab a passport at any participating location and carry it site to site. Each museum stamps the booklet as guests move through the county.
Promont, a four-story Italianate mansion built in 1865, sits on a hill overlooking Milford. It was once the home of John M. Pattison, the 43rd governor of Ohio.
The Greater Milford Area Historical Society, which has operated the property since the group's founding in 1967, is hosting the stop as an "America 250 Free Open House," according to the society's website.
Other stops on the Sept. 19 route include President Ulysses S. Grant's birthplace in Point Pleasant, the Bethel Historical Society and Museum, the TriState Warbird Museum and the Owensville Historical Society and Museum.
No 2027 Museum Day dates have been announced. More information on participating sites is available on the Discover Clermont website.
