Loveland junior Ella George owns the all-time career digs record at Loveland High School.
George, a 5-foot-6 libero and defensive specialist, reached the milestone Thursday, Oct. 1, during the Tigers' home match against Little Miami. Loveland assistant athletic director Shayne Lyons announced the record on X during the match.
The Tigers beat Little Miami on the same evening, taking the first set 25-18 and the second set 25-17. The match also served as youth night at Loveland.
The announcement did not include the exact career digs total or the name of the previous record holder.
George entered the match as the team's digs leader. As of Sept. 25, she had 165 digs on the season and a team-best 4.0 digs per set, according to MaxPreps. She also ranked third on the team in serving aces with 13 and third in receptions with 163.
On offense, senior middle hitter and outside hitter Kylie George led the Tigers with 167 kills and 4.1 kills per set through the same Sept. 25 update. Ella George's defensive production has paired with that offensive firepower to keep Loveland competitive in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference.
The record adds to a run of milestones for the Loveland volleyball program. A regional volleyball account, 513vbrankings, noted on Instagram on Sept. 26 that Tigers players have reached milestones of 2,000 career assists, 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs.
George, who still has her senior season ahead, will have at least one more year to extend the mark.
Loveland stood at 9-6 overall and 7-3 in the ECC as of Sept. 24, good for fourth place in the conference, per MaxPreps. The OHSAA sectional tournament begins Oct. 19, with the tournament draw set for Oct. 11.
The Tigers travel to Lakota East on Monday, Oct. 5, then visit West Clermont on Tuesday, Oct. 6, for an ECC matchup. Loveland hosts Lebanon on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and travels to Kings on Thursday, Oct. 15.
