A motorcyclist who was not wearing a helmet suffered a serious head injury Sunday afternoon, Aug. 23, after crashing on southbound Interstate 275 near the State Route 28 interchange in Milford, according to emergency radio traffic monitored by the Clermont Guardian.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched shortly before 3 p.m. to a report of a motorcycle down along the ramp from southbound I-275 to Route 28. Responding units found the rider in a ditch alongside the roadway.

The situation escalated fast.

Emergency crews described the incident as a "high-velocity impact" over radio traffic, and the call was upgraded to a crash with injuries. The response grew to include two engine companies and two medic units, and crews established fire ground command at the scene, a protocol typically reserved for complex or large-scale incidents requiring coordinated operations across multiple units.

Responding units described the motorcyclist as having an obvious head injury while medics continued to assess the patient. Crews requested a medical helicopter, and Air Care landed near the interchange a short time later to transport the rider.

No details on the rider's condition after transport were available as of Aug. 25. The Ohio State Highway Patrol had not released an official crash report or public statement about the incident.

The crash remained under investigation by OSHP as of Sunday afternoon.
