Drivers who use State Route 48 through Loveland will need to find another way across O'Bannon Creek starting Wednesday, July 22.
The Ohio Department of Transportation will close the S.R. 48 bridge over O'Bannon Creek for seven days to rehabilitate the structure, according to ODOT. The closure is weather-dependent.
The City of Loveland confirmed the timeline on its construction projects page, stating it received an update from ODOT that the project will officially begin July 22 and the road will remain closed for seven days.
What's being done
Contractors from the Eagle Bridge Company will install a concrete overlay and polymer-modified asphalt expansion joints on the bridge, which ODOT identifies as CLE-48-6.62. The bridge sits between Harrison Avenue and Cones Road in Loveland.
The work is part of a larger $1.14 million contract awarded to Eagle Bridge Company that also covers repairs to a second bridge on S.R. 132 over Stonelick Creek north of Owensville. ODOT lists the overall two-bridge project (PID 102771) as "Construction: In Progress" with all work scheduled for completion in late summer 2026.
Detour route
While S.R. 48 is closed, ODOT will route motorists along S.R. 28, I-275, and U.S. 22.
