Symmes Elementary School and three other Sycamore Community Schools campuses landed in the top 4% of all Ohio elementary schools, according to U.S. News & World Report's 2026 rankings.

The district announced the recognition Aug. 26. Blue Ash Elementary, Maple Dale Elementary, Montgomery Elementary and Symmes Elementary all earned the designation.

All four campuses made the list.

Symmes Elementary, at 11820 Enyart Road in Loveland, serves about 656 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 4. The Sycamore district enrolls about 6,051 students across seven schools serving portions of Symmes Township, Blue Ash and Montgomery.

U.S. News evaluated schools on two measures: math and reading proficiency on state standardized assessments, and performance relative to expectations based on student body demographics. The publication examined more than 103,000 pre-K, elementary and middle schools nationwide for the 2026 rankings, which were first released in October 2025, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Dr. LaMont Jones, U.S. News managing editor for education, said in October 2025 when the rankings were released that the list highlights schools excelling in student achievement and providing strong learning environments. U.S. News has published elementary and middle school rankings since 2021.

The district attributed the results to its staff and families, saying its elementary campuses maintain high academic standards and strong student support.

The elementary recognition follows a separate U.S. News ranking announced Aug. 18 that placed Sycamore High School in the top 3% nationally, with a score of 97.12 out of 100 among nearly 18,000 public high schools evaluated.
