Loveland is throwing itself a 150th birthday party, and residents are invited to dress up for it.
The City of Loveland announced a Mayor's Gala on Saturday, September 12, at Indie Hollow, 10369 Cones Road, to celebrate the city's sesquicentennial. Tickets are $150 per person and available at lovinlifeloveland.com/events/mayors-gala/.
The formal evening will feature a cocktail reception, gourmet dinner, live entertainment, dancing, casino-style gaming, silent auctions, raffles, and special tributes honoring Loveland's history, according to the city's announcement posted Sunday, July 20. Proceeds will fund legacy projects, though the city has not specified which ones. Space is limited.
The city described the gala as a centerpiece of its yearlong sesquicentennial programming. Loveland was incorporated in 1876, and the 2026 celebration marks 150 years of the community known as the Sweetheart City.
A year of milestones
The gala caps a busy anniversary calendar. A community-wide design contest produced an official sesquicentennial flag, announced at the Tuesday, November 25, 2025, City Council meeting.
The city is also creating a new time capsule to be sealed until Loveland's bicentennial in 2076. Residents and businesses can submit items no larger than 8½-by-11 inches at Loveland City Hall, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a deadline of Thursday, October 30. The capsule is planned for the future Nisbet Park Amphitheater. The city previously uncovered a time capsule buried more than 100 years ago, though water damage limited what could be preserved.
A self-guided History Walking Tour highlighting historic landmarks throughout the city is available via a dedicated mobile app, according to the city's sesquicentennial page.
