Loveland Middle School has a new assistant principal as the 2026-27 school year gets underway.

Mike Simich, formerly the assistant principal at St. Bernard-Elmwood Place Junior/Senior High School, started at LMS this week after the Loveland City School District Board of Education approved his hiring at its April 21 business meeting. The district's official @lovelandtigers account on X welcomed Simich as new staff on Aug. 13, the first day students returned.

Simich fills the vacancy created when Dr. Amanda Robinson moved from assistant principal to principal, replacing David Knapp, who left to become chief innovation officer for the Mason City School District. Robinson had served as LMS assistant principal since 2021.

Before his year at St. Bernard-Elmwood Place, Simich taught social studies at Princeton High School and Taft Information Technology High School. He holds a master's degree in educational leadership from Miami University and describes himself as having more than a decade of experience in education.

"I am honored to join the leadership team at Loveland Middle School," Simich said in the district's April announcement. "I look forward to partnering with Dr. Robinson and our dedicated staff to support the continued excellence of the Tiger family."

Superintendent Mike Broadwater said in the same announcement that the district is "excited that Mike Simich is becoming a Loveland Tiger."

Loveland Middle School serves 624 students in grades 7 and 8. The school year opened with a staggered start: students with last names A-L returned Aug. 13 and students M-Z followed Aug. 14, with all students together starting Aug. 17.
