Loveland's home football game against Kings and Milford's road trip to Winton Woods will both start later than scheduled Friday night as a heat wave pushes temperatures into dangerous territory across Greater Cincinnati.
Kings at Loveland now kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Milford at Winton Woods starts at 8 p.m. Both are Week 3 non-conference matchups.
The two local schedule changes are part of a wider shift. WCPO 9 reporter Mike Dyer reported Thursday that at least 10 Greater Cincinnati high school football games adjusted kickoff times for Friday night. Games were pushed back anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes to avoid the worst of the heat, according to WLWT.
A Heat Advisory remains in effect through 8 p.m. Friday. Temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-90s, with heat index values just over 100 degrees. The forecast runs 10 to 15 degrees above historical averages for early September, according to AccuWeather.
Teams across the area adjusted their routines during the week. Cincinnati-area high school programs conducted early-morning practices or moved workouts indoors to avoid the heat, WCPO 9 reported.
No Loveland or Milford coaches commented publicly on the schedule changes. The original kickoff times for either game were not published, though Milford's Week 1 home opener against Harrison on Aug. 21 carried a standard 7 p.m. start at Eagle Stadium.
The Heat Advisory lifts at 8 p.m., but temperatures are expected to stay in the 90s into the evening. The Loveland Tigers play at home; the Milford Eagles travel to Winton Woods in Forest Park.
