Milford will cut water service to a stretch of Lila Avenue and one Mohawk Trail address Sept. 8, while crews replace a water main valve.

The shutoff runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and affects 914 to 930 Lila Ave. and 726 Mohawk Trail, according to a notice the city posted on its website Sept. 2.

The city's Water Department is asking affected residents and businesses to keep all faucets closed while the work is underway. Leaving a faucet open can cause flooding once pressure returns to the line, the city said in the notice.

Water may run cloudy or discolored for a short time after service resumes, the city said. The Clermont Guardian reported that the effect is common when air and mineral sediment are disturbed inside distribution pipes during valve work.

Milford's water system serves more than 6,000 customers and draws from four groundwater wells along the Little Miami River, according to city information.
