Free antique fire engine rides will return to downtown Milford during Hometown for the Holidays on Friday, Nov. 27, and Saturday, Nov. 28, with the fire department’s 1945 Seagrave expected to take part after recent preventive maintenance.

The Historic Milford Association's two-day event in historic downtown Milford features the antique pumper alongside carriage rides, strolling carolers, visits with Santa at Kirk & Company Jewelers and a tree-lighting ceremony at Five Points Landing Park on Nov. 27. That lighting is expected to start at 7 p.m. Friday at Five Points Landing Park, 527 Lila Ave.

The Milford Community Fire Department announced the truck's maintenance in a Facebook post, as first reported by the Clermont Guardian. Sora's Towing, Inc., a Milford shop on State Route 28, completed preventive maintenance on the 81-year-old engine ahead of the event. The department called the Seagrave its beloved antique fire truck.

Free fire engine rides run from noon to 4 p.m. both days.

Last year's appearance came after a major mechanical restoration. Dropped Axle Productions and Sora's Towing replaced the truck's entire front axle, brake system, belt and pulley system, carburetor and several other engine components, according to a report presented at the Dec. 2, 2025, Milford City Council meeting. The project was completed on budget. The department reported that hundreds of residents took rides through the city during the 2025 event.

A rededication ceremony for the restored truck was planned for after the 2025 holidays, according to the same council report.

The 1945 Seagrave remains on the department's official apparatus roster alongside its modern engines, a ladder truck and medic units. Admission to Hometown for the Holidays is free.
