Loveland residents can get a breast cancer screening close to home when TriHealth's Mobile Mammography Van parks at 120 West Loveland Ave. on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
The van will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., according to TriHealth's mammography van calendar. The visit falls during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Each screening takes about 20 minutes.
The van uses 3D digital tomosynthesis with Profound AI, a technology TriHealth says offers more accurate early detection than traditional mammography. Board-certified technologists from TriHealth's Breast Imaging team staff the van, and radiologists at a TriHealth Breast Imaging location read the images.
Results post to TriHealth MyChart within 24 to 48 hours. Patients without a MyChart account receive results by mail, sent to both the patient and their doctor.
The City of Loveland promoted the visit across its social media accounts, describing it as a convenient way for residents to get screened without leaving town.
Who qualifies
TriHealth recommends annual screening mammograms starting at age 40, following American College of Radiology guidelines. Women ages 35 to 39 with a family history of breast cancer can also receive a screening on the van, according to TriHealth's mobile van page.
TriHealth's breast care page cites American Cancer Society data showing one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. The page notes 90% of cases develop from gene changes unrelated to family history.

Appointments can be scheduled online or by calling (513) 569-6565. Funding may be available for uninsured or underinsured patients who qualify. Call the same number, extension 1, for details.
The van travels weekly to community and business locations across the four-county Greater Cincinnati area, according to TriHealth.
