Flying Ace Car Wash seeks Milford approval at Sept. 8 hearing

Express Wash Concepts wants to open a Flying Ace Car Wash at 840 Lila Avenue in Milford, and residents will get their say on Sept. 8, when the Planning Commission holds a public hearing on the proposal.

The commission will consider a conditional use request from the Columbus-area company to operate what the city's agenda calls "an automotive wash establishment" at the Lila Avenue site. The hearing begins at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers at 745 Center Street.

The hearing is open to the public.

Because a car wash is not permitted by right at the location, the Planning Commission must grant conditional use approval before the business can move forward. The commission has the authority to attach conditions to any approval or to deny the request outright.

Express Wash Concepts, founded in 2014, operates five express tunnel car wash brands across Ohio, according to a company announcement. Flying Ace is its flagship, with 20 locations as of May 2026 concentrated in the Greater Dayton and Greater Columbus regions.

The Sept. 8 agenda also includes an election of officers and approval of minutes from the commission's July 14 meeting.

Zoning code rewrite continues

Following the public hearing, commissioners will resume their ongoing work session on Milford's zoning code update, a project that launched with a public visioning meeting in April 2023. The commission has held multiple work sessions on the rewrite throughout 2026, including sessions in March, May, June and July.
