A $10 donation at the Loveland Meijer checkout on Aug. 15, will turn into $30 worth of food and essentials for LIFE Food Pantry, thanks to Meijer's Double Match Day.

The match triples a shopper's impact.

It's part of Meijer's Simply Give Fall Campaign, which runs through Sept. 26. On Double Match Days, Meijer adds $20 to every $10 Simply Give card purchased at checkout. The card is converted into a Meijer food-only gift card and sent directly to the pantry. A second Double Match Day falls on Sept. 12.

The program matters to LIFE because the pantry, not Meijer, chooses what to buy. According to LIFE Food Pantry's website, high-demand items like milk, butter, toilet paper, diapers and laundry detergent move quickly, and Simply Give funds help keep them stocked.

LIFE Food Pantry, the Loveland InterFaith Effort, has served families facing food insecurity in the 45140 ZIP code since 1988. The nonprofit uses 89 cents of every dollar on direct assistance and receives no government funding. Executive director Carol Rountree and board president Kurt Trombley lead the organization from its location at 677 Loveland Madeira Rd.

The pantry served roughly 8,967 neighbors during the first half of 2026, according to the pantry's social media.

Meijer caps its Double Match Day contribution at $10,000 per store, per campaign. Since the program launched in 2008, Simply Give has helped provide more than 900 million meals nationwide.

How to participate

Purchase a $10 Simply Give donation card at checkout during any trip to the Loveland Meijer through Sept. 26. For triple the impact, shop on one of the two remaining Double Match Days: Aug. 15 or Sept. 12.

Coming up: Empty Bowls fundraiser

LIFE Food Pantry's Empty Bowls fundraiser returns Sept. 26, the same day the Simply Give campaign ends. The pantry is collecting gift card donations of $25 or more from area restaurants, shops and entertainment venues for a mystery gift card raffle. Cards can be dropped off at the pantry in an envelope labeled "Empty Bowls – Sue Kentrup."
