Nine Milford Eagles earned Eastern Cincinnati Conference Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Aug. 30, with sophomore quarterback Aiden Wehrum's six-touchdown varsity debut headlining the list.
Wehrum completed 17 of 22 passes for 340 yards and five touchdowns in Milford's 47-7 ECC-opening win over Walnut Hills on Friday, Aug. 28. He added 34 rushing yards and a sixth touchdown on the ground in his first career start, according to the Milford Schools Athletics release. WLWT named him one of its "Friday Night Stars" in its Week 2 Blitz Recap, and he was also nominated for weekly awards by Tristatefootball.com and WLWT's Primetime Performer vote.
The win was a bounce-back for the Eagles, who opened the season with a 35-0 loss to Harrison on Aug. 21.
Wehrum wasn't the only Eagle honored from the Walnut Hills game. Senior wide receiver Joey Dahmer caught seven passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns, including a 69-yard catch-and-run touchdown. It was Dahmer's second career 100-yard receiving game.
Junior defensive back Nolan Burch led the defense with seven tackles, 3.5 of them for loss, as Milford held Walnut Hills to 12 passing yards and 166 total yards.
Cross country and soccer
The boys cross country trio of junior Charlie Leatherwood, senior Parker St. Clair and junior Hunter Vincent earned a group honor after packing together to lead the Eagles to victory at the Milford Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 29, at Live Oaks Career Center. Their coach said the three formed a tight pack that made the difference in the season-opening home meet.
Girls cross country runner Lily Murray and boys soccer player Charlie Gehringer were also named to the weekly honors list.
Golf
Ellie Fight earned the girls golf honor for the second straight week. Fight shot a 45 on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Sharon Woods to earn team medalist honors in a loss to Walnut Hills, then followed with a 43 on Thursday, Aug. 27, at Legendary Run to claim match medalist in a close loss to Mt. Notre Dame.
Girls soccer
Girls soccer defender Lila Patterson contributed two goals and an assist, according to the Milford Athletics release. Her coach noted she added offensive production while anchoring the back line all season. Fight and Patterson were the only individual female honorees with stat lines in the release.
