Milford police officers will deliver Halloween treats directly to children with disabilities or special needs on Oct. 31, but families need to sign up by Oct. 24.
Families living within Milford's city limits can request a visit by messaging the Milford Police Department's Facebook page with the child's name, a parent's name, a phone number and a home address, the Clermont Guardian reported. Officers will then stop by each registered home on Halloween to drop off a treat.
The department announced the program in a social media post the week of Oct. 12.
The Halloween delivery is the latest community outreach effort from a department that also runs a Citizen Police Academy, a Crime Stoppers tip line and a Vacation House Check service for residents who are away from home, according to the Clermont Guardian.
Chief Donald "Jamey" Mills has led the department since January 2011. A Milford High School graduate, Mills joined the department as a police officer in 1994 and also serves as an adjunct instructor at the University of Cincinnati, according to the department's website.
Mills has spoken about the role community support plays in the department's outreach work. In a July 2025 Milford Miami Township Chamber of Commerce profile honoring him with the Above & Beyond Individual Award, he said: "This community loves to come together for a cause. The tremendous amount of outreach our public safety provides wouldn't be possible without their support."
Signup closes Oct. 24.
How to sign up: Message the Milford Police Department's Facebook page with the child's name, a parent's name, a phone number and a home address by Saturday, Oct. 24.
